Citibank 3D Secure™ is a free service provided by Citibank which operates within the Mastercard SecureCode framework, in association with most of the leading online merchants. 3D Secure™ assists Citibank Mastercard Debit Card members to shop online with added protection and confidence.

No enrolment is required as all Mastercard Debit Card members are automatically enrolled. Please ensure that you have updated your latest mobile phone number with us by calling CitiPhone at +971 4 3114000 or via CBOL using option –My Profile->Update Contact details, as the OTP will be sent to the mobile phone number in our records.

3D Secure provides an added layer of security by prompting you for an OTP when you make an online purchase. This helps protect against online fraud by verifying that the customer making the online purchase is the rightful owner of the Mastercard Debit Card.

No, the service only uses 'session cookies', which are filed on your computer temporarily and are automatically deleted when you log out or interrupt the connection.

You can do the following:

  • Check whether the online merchant is a participant of Mastercard SecureCode.
  • Check whether your system blocks pop-ups. If necessary, switch off the software that blocks pop-ups.

Via Citibank Online or your monthly statement, you can view all your Mastercard Debit Card transactions.

3D Secure™ is available for all Citibank Mastercard Debit Cards.

No. The OTP is only required for online merchants that support the 3D Secure authentication protocol.

You will not be able to complete the transaction and will be routed back to the merchant website.

You will still be able to transact at 3D Secure merchant websites for three times without entering the OTP. However, this is not advisable as the transaction will be non-authenticated. Hence you are encouraged to update your mobile phone number with us. Simply call our 24-hr CitiPhone at +97143114000 or via CBOL using option –My Profile->Update Contact details, to update your mobile phone number.

The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of primary card holder. The primary card holder will then be required to share the OTP with the supplementary card holder to complete the transaction.

For every online transaction on the 3D Secure page for authentication, Citi Mastercard Debit Card will now send you a new 6 digit numeric One Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobilenumber every time you initiate an online transaction. You will need to enter this OTP on the 3D Secure page to authenticate your transaction.

No. Every 6 digit OTP is valid only for that particular transaction and cannot be used for any other transaction.

Each OTP is valid for 10 minutes or one successful usage whichever is earlier.

One Time Password (OTP) would be instantly sent to the mobile phone number in our records, after you have started the transaction and entered your card details. If you do not receive the OTP, please check if your mobilenumber registered with Citibank UAE is correct. If the registered details are correct, you can request for the OTP to be re-sent to you by clicking on the resend link appearing in the below message displayed on the screen. If you have not received the One-Time Password yet, click here to re-send the password

The Resend OTP link will be activated 20 seconds after the first OTP being sent

You can request for an OTP to be re-sent to you one time only.
