Exercising for as little as 30 minutes a day has countless benefits. While the physical benefits such as stronger bones and muscles seem apparent, studies have also proved exercise to be an effective treatment for depression, anxiety and ADHD.
For many of us, the gym is the first thing that comes to mind when we think of exercise, but there are so many other ways to get in your daily physical activity. Dancing, yoga, taking the stairs, sports and home workouts are all examples of what you can do if going to the gym is not your cup of tea.
Try Volunteering
If you’re looking for something new to try or have a little free time to fill, volunteering is the perfect activity. It enriches our lives and the lives of those we choose to help in so many ways. A study found that when a person volunteers his or her time, they begin to feel like they have more time and are more efficient. Volunteers also feel better about themselves, experience lower stress levels, and develop a deeper connection with others. Humanitarian organizations, animal shelters and wildlife protection programs are some examples of where you can start your volunteering journey.
Remind yourself to appreciate the small moments.
Last but not least, remind yourself to rejoice and take the time to appreciate the small moments. Take note of the little things in your day that spark joy because a habit of appreciating small moments of bliss often contribute more to lasting happiness.
Taking time out of your day to do something small that you’ve noticed you enjoy; such as early morning walks while the weather is pleasant can set the tone for your entire day and make the unpleasant days seem a lot easier too.
We hope these ideas benefit you in the coming year and make your year, a very happy one!
