  • Debit Cards: You can use and spend your own funds that you have deposited in your bank account
  • Credit Cards: You can spend up to a certain limit by borrowing from the credit amount allocated to your card by the issuing bank.
  • Debit Cards: They do not offer rewards points

  • Debit Cards: They come with an overdraft line of credit associated with the consumer’s bank account.
  • Credit Cards: They come with a specified credit amount. If the consumer wants to spend beyond it, the card will decline the transaction.

Credit Cards can be considered similar to short-term loans. So, whenever you borrow money from the credit amount allocated within your card by the bank, you must pay the borrowed amount to the bank every month within your billing cycle. You must make sure to pay the borrowed amount in your billing cycle every month to avoid getting penalised.

Step 1. Open your Citi Mobile app
Step 2. Click on "Activate card"
Step 3. Enter your Card No.(16 digits on your card), Expiry Date(mm/yy) and Date of Birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
Step 4. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
Step 5. Create and confirm an ATM Password code

There are four ways via which you can pay your Credit Card bill. Check them below:

  • Pay via online transfer from your Citi account
  • Pay via online transfer from other UAE bank account
  • Set up a Direct Debit payment from your Citi bank or non-Citibank account
  • Pay at an exchange house through the UAE Funds Transfer System (UAEFTS)

Minimum Payment Due is calculated as 2.74% of the current balance on Statement of Account, plus, if applicable

  • Current billed Late Payment Fee
  • Current billed finance charges
  • Monthly amount(s) of installment(s) subscribed under EIP's/ Balance Transfer/ Loan on Phone(s)/ InstaLoan(s) etc
  • Over Limit amount
  • Past due amount
  • InstaLoan processing fee or AED 100, whichever is higher.

If your Current Balance is less than AED 100, then your Minimum Payment Due will be equal to your Current Balance

You will be charged a late fee when the Minimum Payment Due is not received by the Payment Due Date. It is levied in addition to the interest on the outstanding amount at Citibank's Credit Card interest rate.

You will be charged an over limit fee if the total outstanding balance on the card exceeds the credit limit at any time. You will also be charged when the current balance as shown in the statement exceeds the credit limit.

Interest will be charged if you do not pay the full amount due or make partial payment. It will be shown in the next statement date. The charges are calculated for each transaction from the respective transaction date to the next statement date.

Follow the steps below to register for SMS and EMAIL Alerts:

  • Sign on to Citibank Online and navigate to the My Profile menu.
  • Choose Citibank Alerting service from the available options
  • Select Edit Alert Profile
  • Choose your SMS and Email Alerts
  • Click Confirm to activate your alerts

Follow the steps below to register for Push Notifications:

  • Sign on to the Citi Mobile App
  • Select Push Notifications from the Settings menu
  • Click Set up New Notification and choose your alerts
  • Select Continue to confirm your choice
  • Ensure your device settings allow notification to be displayed

Missing the minimum payment due in any month and/or non-adherence to the bank’s Terms and Conditions may subject you to negative consequences and limit your ability to access further financing in the future, including but not limited to, late fee charges, a negative impact on your credit bureau rating, your card account going into arrears and/or collections measures which may include legal action and/or trigger all monies becoming due immediately. If you only make the minimum payment each month, you will pay more in interest and it will take you longer to pay off your outstanding balance.
